Google analytics is a web analytics service offered by Google, that tracks and reports website traffic. Google analytics is most widely used web tracking service. Google analytics uses cookies to track the users. It's available in both web and mobile version. For mobile user need to download application from play store or iTunes store.

The main idea for creating google analytics was to customize the content according to the need of users.

Mainly Google Analytic is used to track website activity of users such as session duration, pages per session, bounce rate, etc. With Google Analytics we can get Realtime ,audience, acquisition, behavior, conversion reports.

Realtime report
In year 2011 google launched Realtime analytics, enabling users to have real time insights about how visitors currently on the sites are interacting with the infrastructure of the site.
Realtime can be used in:
  • Monitor new and changed content on your site is used
  • Usage of mobile app through event tracking
  • Monitoring working of one-day promotion
  • Monitor immediate effect of traffic from blog/ social network post or tweet
  • To check working of tracking code
Audience report
Audience report enable users to have insights about active users, new users, session per user, pages per session, bounce rate, etc.
  • Acquisition metrics lets you know from which source users are coming
  • Behavior metric will let you know if people are leaving your page after seeing only a single page (Bounce rate), or viewing multiple pages(pages/session)
  • Conversion metrics let you know whether users are completing transactions and goals
Acquisition report
Acquisition report enables you to know your biggest traffic source and you get a better idea where you could use your money and time
  • Overview gives you a quick glance of top source sending traffic to your website
  • Channel is similar to the overview but it gives you the graph view to go on with acquisition, behavior, conversions
  • All traffic metric shows your top traffic source channels
  • Referral metric excludes direct and organic traffic coming to your website
  • Campaign lists the visitor comes to your site from campaigns you have set up.
Behavior report
It enables user to have insights of number of users interacting with your site, the screen or webpage they visit the most.

Conversion report
Conversions show how many purchases and conversion events, along with how much revenue and lifetime value.
